Session 3: 1:30p - 4:00p - Identity Theft: How The Name Game Has Changed
Sessions: Morning session will be Dolores Stafford's team presenting on Violence Against Women Re-authorization Act (VAWA) of 2013 which updates the 1984 law of the same name. The law, in tandem with the Campus SAVE Act passed around the same time, will greatly increase the training and data collection requirements for colleges and universities related to domestic and sexual violence.
Afternoon session presenter Johnny May, CPP, CITRMS will teach on the crime of identity theft reaching epidemic proportions. Each year this non-discriminatory crime claims millions of victims.... and the number is growing. Attendees will learn how the identity theft game has changed. Topics will include how technology has changed the way identity thieves operate, why high profile security breaches are occurring with alarming frequency, the new targets of choice for identity thieves, and how personal information is purchased and sold on the black market/underground.
