Since this is the first MACLEA Conference in two years, and the 50th Anniversary of the Association, we are pulling out all the stops. All registered members to the conference receive a free 50th Anniversary Challenge Coin. We will also have excellent raffle prizes including the brand new MACLEA pull overs.

9:00 am – Presentation: Transformational Leadership Through Personal Growth. Chief Dave Funkhouser.
Join Dave Funkhouser, a 30-year veteran of law enforcement in Wisconsin, as he provides direction on becoming a dynamic leader by first becoming a leader of yourself; then developing that knowledge to transform yourself into an effective and powerful leader for your group or organization. Using a blend of personal experiences, humor, and real-life examples, Dave will demonstrate and lead the attendees in digging deep to examining their own personal lives and feelings, with the intent of transforming their internalization process, thus developing a stepping stone to building, reinforcing, and transforming their professional organizational and individual leadership skills.
Dave has presented on various topics specializing in transformational leadership, building trust in organizations, responses to tragic events, community relations, ethics, and more. Dave has also been a panel speaker for several organizations and conferences on the topic of leadership and mentoring including the IACP, Vision 2020 Leadership, and the WI Command College.

1:00 pm – Roundtable Discussion with College & University Chiefs-Panelists: Chief Marlon Lynch/Michigan State University, Chief Robert Neumann/University of Michigan, Chief Rebecca Whitman/Grand Rapids Community College
Join these distinguished Chiefs as they lead a discussion on current issues affecting college and university campuses. Topics include Covid-19 response, mental health on campus, and the current negative perception of law enforcement.
2:00 pm – MACP/MACLEA collaboration discussion
2:15 pm – Board Meeting
Discussion on the incorporation of the Association, the Constitution and Bylaws, financial considerations of the Association, and voting in a Treasurer and Member at Large position.
3:00 pm – Raffle and conclusion of meeting
